1、From the history of watches

The concept of a watch first appeared in the 19th century, initially known as a bracelet watch,TUDOR Royal M28323-0001 a precious metal ornament designed for women, which was inlaid with gorgeous gems and covered the dial with a cover, more like a flashy bracelet with the added function of telling time. Men, on the other hand, used pocket watches as their only timekeeping device.

It wasn't until 1904 that Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, who couldn't easily look at his pocket watch while flying an airplane, customized a portable watch that could be worn on his hand from the luxury brand Cartier for the convenience of pioneering aviators such as himself. Cartier customized the watch for Santos to be worn on his left hand because Santos is used to holding the rudder with his right hand. If Santos had been left-handed, the watch might have been worn on the right hand. This watch became the basic design model for what became the wristwatch, known as the Santos, which went on sale in 1904.

2、 From the design of the watch

The first watches were mechanical and needed to be wound and the time adjusted. The watch's winding
knob and the button knob for adjusting the time were located on the right side of the watch's disk, so they could be operated with the right hand when worn on the left hand. However, if you wear it on your right hand, it is not very convenient. Although quartz watches are now available, many high-end watches are still mechanical.TUDOR Black Bay 39 M79660-0001 Therefore, from the point of view of convenience, the watch should also be worn on the left hand.

In addition, most people are accustomed to writing with their right hand, etc., and the right hand is used more frequently. If the watch is worn on the right hand, it will cause a lot of inconvenience and is also easy to bump. In particular, mechanical watches have six facing positions, and when the watch is in different positions, the amplitude, etc., changes slightly. The movement amplitude of the right hand is obviously larger than that of the left hand, and wearing a mechanical watch on the right hand will affect the timekeeping of the watch.

3、From the perspective of health

According to the theory of Chinese medicine, there is a part called "inch mouth" at both wrists, which connects three important pulse points of the human body, namely "inch-guan-rule". These three pulse points are closely related to one's health, and they are located on the left and right wrists and under the thumbs. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), these three pulse points in women are located on the right hand,TUDOR Glamour Double Date M57103-0005 and blood flows from the end of the heart to this part of the right hand. If there is a watch for a long time pressure, it will affect the normal work of the heart. Therefore, women will wear the watch on the left hand is more in line with medical health care theory, but also more healthy.

4、From the perspective of social etiquette

Wearing a watch will give people an impression of professionalism and punctuality. Nowadays, women's watches are not only used to see the time, but also have decorative functions and are divided into different grades. Of course, there is nothing wrong with buying a watch that matches your status according to your preferences and financial resources, whether it is a luxury brand or an affordable brand. However, it is the right hand that we often wave when we shake hands or speak to people. Wearing a very expensive watch and waving your right hand a lot will inevitably give the impression that you are showing off, which is not in line with the temperament we choose to wear a watch to show. Therefore, it is more appropriate to wear a watch discreetly on the left hand.
