The role of the Internet of Things and automation.

The role of the Internet of Things and automation.

Nowadays, IoT is one of the most popular terms in the media, and is closely related to "intelligence". In the perspective of "management, control, intelligence", IoT and industrial automation are actually one and the same, industrial automation includes the collection, transmission, calculation and other aspects, while IoT is a comprehensive sensing, reliable transmission, intelligent processing, the two are connected.

The IoT, on the other hand, places more emphasis on wireless connectivity, massive interviews, and intelligent computing. There is a very close connection between IoT and automation technology. The difference is that "most traditional automation networks are realized through wired networks with a narrower range of network connectivity, while in sensing networks, wireless networks become the main transmission path and have a much wider range of connectivity. Industrial automation vendors, by nature of wireless module their lineage, will focus on the development of IoT.

Application areas of IoT, such as.

Logistics, supply chain, warehouse management systems.

Production, tracking, progress monitoring, quality tracking of industrial products.

A tracking and anti-counterfeiting system for valuable commodities, dangerous goods.

Electronic documents for conferences, high-level meetings, important meetings, large events, concerts, tourist attractions, etc. Electronic express (e.g. Shanghai World Expo).

Various types of vehicle charges, remote automatic identification and management.

Automatic identification, recording, positioning and query of personnel in the zone.

Animal, food industry whole process traceability.

Various fields, such as agriculture, disaster relief and rescue.

Valuable and important assets.

Whole process of apparel brands.

The book industry.

Ordnance management, personnel management, vehicle management, material management, security and confidentiality.

Aerospace, automotive and other industries.

Retail operations.

Social Security Department.

Smart city domain, etc.

The "Internet of Things" overturns the traditional way of thinking in which human "physical infrastructure" and "IT infrastructure" are distinctly separated, effectively connecting physical facilities such as roads and buildings with personal computers, cell phones, home appliances, transportation, IT and other facilities, and making government management, manufacturing, social management and people's personal lives completely interconnected.

From the perspective of the need for the Internet of Things industry chain, the automatic control, information perception, radio frequency identification, etc. needed for the Internet of Things belongs to its upstream technology and industry, while the downstream is the Internet of Things application issues. Some industry experts even believe that "the traditional industrial automation field is actually a part of the Internet of Things." Calling on industrial automation manufacturers to become the real pushers to land the IoT. As IoT is the combination of information and automation with endless potential for amplification and advantages, some units are keenly aware of the potential of IoT in managing processes and production process optimization, and have achieved initial results. In the IoT, traditional automation networks and sensor networks are very similar.
